Wills
State law requires that wills be admitted for probate in the County District Court. The District Court Judge must then issue an order probating the will. After the will is probated, it must be recorded in the County Clerk’s office accompanied by the order appointing the administrator or executor of the estate. The County Clerk’s office retains the original copy of the will permanently.
Filing Fee for Wills – $47.00 for the first 5 pages and $3.00 per each additional page
Filing Fee for Order Appointing Administrator or Executor – $8.00
Out-of-County Wills
The County Clerk can record wills probated in another Kentucky county if an attested or certified copy of the will and order of probate from the County Clerk in the county where the will was originally filed is presented (KRS 394.300). A filing fee of $47.00 for the first 5 pages and $3.00 per each additional page will be assessed
